Dr. Bret Fisher speaks at the New Orleans Academy of Ophthalmology

On Thursday, December 3rd, local eye surgeon Dr. Bret Fisher of the Eye Center of North Florida was the invited guest lecturer at the quarterly meeting of the New Orleans Academy of Ophthalmology. Over 50 ophthalmologists from Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama were in attendance to hear Dr. Fisher speak on recent advances in cataract surgery. The New Orleans Academy of Ophthalmology is one of the oldest physician specialty organizations in the United States, having been organized in 1951 as unique collaboration between LSU Medical School, Tulane Medical School and the local private practitioners. The first official meeting followed shortly, in January of 1952. For the last 50 years, the Academy has remained true to its original mission, “to promote ophthalmic education through instructional courses, clinics, lectures, and seminars, at which guest speakers will present subjects of current interest and importance.” Dr. Fisher is a founding partner of the Eye Center of North Florida, the area’s largest eye care facility. He specializes in cataract and refractive surgery, and has practiced in Panama City since 1993.
