If your eye’s lens is clouded by a cataract, you are one of nearly 2.5 million Americans who will undergo cataract surgery. A multifocal contact lens can successfully replace your eye’s damaged lens. This common, successful surgery is one of the safest surgical procedures out there.

Multifocal Lenses
A multifocal lens is a type of intra-ocular lens (IOL) that replaces the lens of your eye during surgery. Multifocal lenses are newer than their predecessor, the monofocal lens. These new lenses can correct vision at multiple ranges without the use of standard glasses or typical contacts.
At the Eye Center of North Florida, we offer a variety of multifocal lenses. You and Dr. Fisher or Dr. Garland will determine which lens is right for you.
The multifocal lenses we offer include:
ReSTOR®
The ReSTOR® multifocal intraocular lenses are specially designed to enhance vision at a variety of distances. This gives cataract patients the ability to enjoy life without glasses or removable contacts. Modeled after telescope and microscope technology, ReSTOR® focuses at both near and far distances. The best candidate for this lens is anyone age 45 or older who relies on glasses or contacts to see near, far and distances in-between.
ReZoom™
The ReZoom™ intra-ocular lens considered a “next-generation” refractive multifocal lens implant. This lens provides hyperopic cataract patients with greater independence from glasses than monofocal IOLs. The ReZoom™ lens is ideal for anyone who experiences:
- Difficulty seeing objects up close
- Difficulty reading
- Difficulty driving at night
- Frequent glass prescription changes
- A need for bifocals
Crystalens™
Crystalens™ is a single-focus accommodating intra-ocular lens. This lens was specially designed to address the loss of intermediate and near-focusing ability. The Crystalens lens implements a revolutionary “hinges” design. This allows your lens to move backward and forward at every distance level—near, far, and immediate.
