Alcon Infiniti Vision System

infiniti

Alcon’s new Infiniti Vision System offers greater flexibility and more options for surgeons. At the Eye Center of North Florida, our team now has three options for removing a cataract:

  • Ultrasonic phacoemulsification
  • Ultrasound with oscillation
  • Liquification

These options allow our doctors to choose the cataract removal method that best meets your needs.

This new Infiniti system also gives the ophthalmologists at the Eye Center of North   Florida more control over the lens-removal procedure, which can reduce the risk of complications such as thermal burns.

IOLMaster
In cataract surgery and other lens-replacement procedures, your vision is improved by replacing the eye's natural lens with an intra-ocular lens (IOL).

These IOLs come in different powers and sizes to suite your individual needs.

The Need for Measurements
For best vision after cataract surgery, precise measurements must be taken to determine which IOL to implant. The revolutionary IOLMaster is a high-precision instrument that sets a new standard for IOL calculations—optical biometry.

Revolutionary Measurements
With these advances in IOL calculation, the risk of confusing the left and right eye measurements is eliminated because this device automatically detects which eye is which.

The IOLMaster also calculates your axis length, corneal radii and anterior-chamber depth for the most measurement possible.

Measuring the eye in general also takes less time with the IOLMaster than with ultrasound—the traditional measurement instrument that requires anesthesia.

The IOLMaster does not require the use of anesthesia and does not subject patients to any pain or discomfort during measurement, so no risk is involved.

Corneal Topography
Premium screening equipment is the first crucial step to safe laser eye surgery. At the Eye Center of North Florida, we use Corneal Topography—a computer-assisted diagnostic tool that creates a 3D map of your cornea’s surface curvature.

Good Vision and Your Cornea
Your cornea, the front window of your eye, is responsible for about 70% of your focusing abilities. A too-flat, too-steep or unevenly curved cornea can lead to impaired vision.

With Corneal Topography, our experts can detect irregular conditions that may go unnoticed by traditional testing techniques.

Corneal Topography generates a detailed, visual description of your cornea’s shape and power. This gives our ophthalmologists fine details on the condition of your eye. That information is used to:

  • Diagnose your specific eye condition
  • Monitor its behavior
  • Fit contact lenses and IOLs
  • Treat eye conditions
  • Plan for surgery (determine how much tissue to remove, etc.)
  • Assist doctors during surgery

Pentacam
The Pentacam is an innovative diagnostic tool for laser vision correction surgeons. Using a sophisticated camera system, this device scans your:

  • Cornea
  • Anterior chamber
  • Iris
  • Lens

Details, Details
It takes up to 25,000 measured data points, viewing your eye from 25 different angles with a 3D analysis. The Pentacam gives our ophthalmologists a precise elevation map of the back surface of your cornea unlike any other technology before it. This helps Dr. Fisher and his team to make the best, safest recommendations for laser vision surgery.

The Pentacam allows us to see if lens implants might be better than laser surgery and monitor the progress and stability of certain corneal conditions. This information helps us give you the best vision correction option for your specific needs as they change.
