Dr. MacDonald completed his undergraduate degree in Zoology in 1993. He graduated from Optometry School at the New England College of Optometry in Boston, MA in 1997 and then completed his Residency in Ocular Disease/Hospital-Based Primary Care on the Navajo Indian Reservation in 1998 at Kayenta Indian Health Hospital in Kayenta, AZ.  After his Residency, he was selected as Chief of Eye Services at Hu Hu Kam Memorial Hospital on the Gila River Indian Reservation in Sacaton, AZ near Phoenix.  Dr. MacDonald moved his family then to North Carolina where he was Chief of Eye Services at the Greenville VA HCC in Greenville, NC caring for our Veterans by starting up their brand-new state-of-the-art Eye Clinic.  Before coming to join our team here, Dr. MacDonald moved back to Kansas and was at the Dwight D Eisenhower VA Medical Center in Kansas.   All while in his various positions, Dr. MacDonald was also serving our country in the Air Force Reserves and the Missouri Air National Guard as an Optometrist for the past 10 years before recently separating with an Honorable Discharge in 2021.   

Dr. MacDonald’s specialties include diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, macular degeneration, primary family eye care,  and contact lenses.
