Dr. David “Ben” Enfield is a comprehensive ophthalmologist trained to treat the full spectrum of eye diseases, with an emphasis on eye surgery. He earned his undergraduate degree from Brigham Young University and his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Arizona College of Medicine. Soon after, he completed his ophthalmology residency at the prestigious Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. Prior to joining Eye Center of North Florida, Dr. Enfield served his country as a sergeant, then a field surgeon for the Army National Guard, where he led and supervised combat medic training and performed health assessments for soldiers. His ophthalmology research has been published in several academic journals and he has received awards for both his research and time as a soldier. In 2008, he received an army commendation medal for his service in Iraq and in 2012, he was recognized as a distinguished honor graduate and received an army achievement medal for his commendable firefighting efforts in Utah. In 2013, he was selected as a winner for Brigham Young University’s Student Research Conference. Dr. Enfield is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Georgia Society of Ophthalmology. He practices exclusively at Eye Center of North Florida’s main office in Panama City.
