Meet, Dr. Amber Anderson!

Eye Center of North Florida is pleased to announce the arrival of our new Optometrist, Dr. Amber Anderson. Dr. Anderson is a licensed Doctor of Optometry with licenses in Illinois and Florida. Her journey in the field began with an undergraduate degree in biology and chemistry from Northern Illinois University. Building on this foundation, she honed her skills by completing her Doctor of Optometry degree at the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago.
Following her academic achievements, Dr. Anderson embarked on a residency program at the Sergeant Ernest I. “Boots” Thomas VA Clinic in Tallahassee, focusing on primary care with a special emphasis on ocular disease. Prior to and during this residency, Dr. Anderson completed multiple externships in primary eye care and ocular disease, gaining valuable insights and presenting at renowned institutions such as the Illinois Eye Institute, Lyons Family Eye Care in Chicago, Froedtert Hospital, and the Medical College of Wisconsin Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, as well as the Tallahassee VA Health Care Center and MyEyeDr in Tallahassee. During her time at Northern Illinois University, Dr. Anderson was engaged in impactful research alongside Dr. Elizabeth Gaillard. Their collaborative work was centered on drug delivery via liposomes into the eye. Dr. Anderson had the honor of presenting at several optometric conferences, including the American Academy of Optometry. In recognition of her outstanding contributions to the field, Dr. Anderson was selected as a student fellow at the American Academy of Optometry in 2021. She was the recipient of both the Brett G. Bence Leadership Student Travel Fellowship Grant and the American Academy of Optometry Foundation Student Grant. Dr. Anderson is an active member of several optometric organizations, including the Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (VOSH), the American Academy of Optometry, the American Optometric Association, and the Florida Optometric Association.
Beyond her professional pursuits, Dr. Anderson finds joy in traveling, kickboxing, and spending quality time with her husband and two children.
